Meet our Local Businesses Day 9 with Shoshanna Fraser Photography!

Day 9 already!  We hope everyone is enjoying the blog posts about our local businesses as much as we are in doing them, feel free to comment below if there are any particular businesses you would like to see featured!  Today, Shoshanna Fraser graced us with her story behind becoming a photographer, or rather developing a skill she always had :)  Shoshanna is owner/operator of Shoshanna Fraser Photography, located at 7 Convent Street (Black Spoon Cafe), North Sydney,NS and has been there about a year already.

Shoshanna told us a little about her story today:

Tell us about why you started this venture:

I don't feel like I "became" a photographer, as such.  I like to think that I was always a photographer and I was first aware of it when I was around 12.  At that age, I was tagging along with my dad while he would shoot weddings; I helped him by carrying his gear around mostly :)

Tell us what it is that you offer/bring to Cape Breton:

I offer the people in Cape Breton a chance to experience a fun photo with the session, to have something to look back on, and to capture a time in their lives when life can seem so hectic. When you see a photo of your family, there is pride and that what people of Cape Breton are is proud!

Any big plans coming up?

I'm moving into a HUGE studio this week. YAY! Hint: It's not moving too far away ;)

What is the most important thing you learned about running your own business in Cape Breton?:

Community over competition. Makes friends with everyone. Surround yourself with like minded people who want to travel in the same direction as you!

What are your favorite things to do or places to visit in Cape Breton when you are not busy running the business?:

We LOVE to camp. We hit different campgrounds on Cape Breton. I love to watch the sunrise over Ingonish Island and to swim at Inverness beach!

Thank you so much Shoshanna with taking the time to give us some insight into your business!
