To explore opportunities to create a downtown cultural hub that includes a performing arts centre, art gallery, library, outdoor program space, and indoor cultural space or digital hub that will become the cultural, social, and economic heart of our community and to redesign the downtown streetscape to give it a sense of place for everyone.
The Downtown Plan is comprised of two studies — the Downtown Cultural Hub, and the Downtown Transportation and Streetscape. The Downtown Cultural Hub Study will explore opportunities to create a downtown cultural and performing arts space including: a performing arts centre, art gallery, library, outdoor program space, and indoor cultural space or digital hub that will become the cultural, social, and economic heart of our community.
The Downtown Transportation and Streetscape Study will assess the current traffic and roadway conditions in downtown Oakville and create recommendations to enhance the roadways, beautify streets, improve pedestrian/cycle ways and revitalize the Towne Square, by introducing design standards as well as increasing connectivity, mobility and accessibility.

Over the next year, you will come to learn more about the Downtown Cultural Hub Study and the Transportation and Streetscape Study. This is an exciting time for the downtown. Oakville residents and business owners are asked to dream!
What do you see when we talk about creating a cultural hub or revamping the streetscape? How do you think we can make better use of current facilities or outdoor spaces? Can we make cycling, walking or driving in downtown safer or better? These are the types of questions we will be asking you over the next few months. Now is the time for creative change.
We hope you’ll continue to visit this page to learn how you can get involved and get dreaming!
