I've been blessed to have been born and raised right here in Kelowna. It was a very small town back then, and I have fond memories of walking through apple orchards to get to my piano lessons, or stopping by Bapka's house (my Ukrainian grandmother, (who just passed away at 106 years old) for her homemade bread and cinnamon buns. I also spent many weekends skiing up at Big White – which was not so “big” at the time, and spending weekends at the lake with my parents, four siblings, aunts and uncles and my numerous cousins.
After graduating from Kelowns Senior Secondary school, my adventurous and curious spirit led me to explore and live in Victoria, Vancouver, California, Hawaii, Nakusp, Saudi Arabia, and parts of Europe. During these times, I dabbled in my passions for acting, building relationships, learning about other cultures, and obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Education. I loved travel so decided to be a flight attendant for a while and then I taught in elementary schools for 10 years because I love working with children!
When I returned to Kelowna in 1994, I had a new appreciation for this beautiful place. My son Brenden was born in 1998, is now 20 years old and living in Vancouver. He did inherit my love for travel and has been able to visit New York, Cuba, London, Scotland, Ireland and Mexico. He just graduated from NIMBUS (School of Recording & Media) specializing in audio recording and producing.
I've found a wonderful way to combine my passions for traveling, learning, and connecting with like-minded people by attending workshops, seminars, and events throughout North America. I attended Engage Today 2009 which hosted the Dalai Lama, Stephen Covey, and Richard Branson, as well as many other well-known speakers - all in the same room. Amazing! I saw Dr. Wayne Dyer in Vernon, B.C. and felt so honored to be there in his presence. In 2010 I attended Janet and Chris Attwood's Passion Test Training and then had the opportunity to go to India with Janet and several others! What an experience - one I will never forget!!! I attended the I Can Do It Conference in Vancouver in 2012 and 2013. What an amazing lineup of people – Dr. Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, Bruce Lipton, Doreen Virtue and Cheryl Richardson - to name a few. These learning experiences energize me and remind me of what is really important in life – living authentically, passionately and honoring who we are. It is important to be in the present moment! I encourage you to read Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book Wishes Fulfilled.
In order for me to be my best I wake up early and workout almost every morning, jogging or walking for 3-5 miles. Then I meditate - even if it is for just a few moments. I feel that this clears my mind and allows me to start my day fresh, letting go of the past, being in the present and then looking forward to what the day brings.
I'm so grateful to have a solid grounding, which is fed by my family, friends, co-workers, and clients. From this solid base, I've been able to pursue my dreams and passions, and in turn, help others to believe that they too, can follow their dreams and passions.
Thank you for allowing me to share. Namaste.
