AUCTIONS ARE AFFORDABLE!

September 13th the Liptay family is holding yet another wonderful estate sale at the Hillsborough Kiwanis (off Route 114). For this weeks blog I thought it would be fun to share two of my "great buys" at the Liptay's auctions and encourage all of you to try it out! Auctions can be a fun way to buy unique, affordable decor for your home.

The first treasure is an old wooden wash board that I picked up at a more recent Liptay Auction. For one thing, I LOVE pearls so the fact that it said PEARL had an impact on my decision to buy it. I figured that I could use this in a bathroom, laundry room or even use it in my kitchen as a spice rack seeing as once secured to the wall the top would provide a flat space to set things on and there is also a ledge underneath the word "PEARL".

The second treasure is an antique lamp that I picked up last summer. I didn't have a chance to look at this lamp before it came up for auction, but once I saw it (and saw that nobody else wanted it) I figured it was worth the $5! The lamp has a nice floral pattern on it, and is cream colored with brass colored accents. I picked up a lamp shade at a home decor store, and VOILA - the perfect bedside lamp!

Over the years I have bought SEVERAL items from the Liptay's auctions including but not limited to: my dining room table with 6 chairs, numerous pieces of artwork, 3 mirrors, vintage clothing, pearl necklaces, black pearl studs, a fur coat (I got suckered into that one, but it is a beautiful coat!), picture frames, my whole collection of tea cups, pottery, champagne flutes, and storage chests to give you an example of the great deals to be had!

All I can say is... GO TO THE AUCTION! Check out the catalogue for tomorrow's auction here! Keep in mind that the published catalogue is a pre-view of what is available, sometimes more items get added on the day of the auction. The viewing begins at 4:30pm, get there early to get a good seat. When it comes to auctions, the Liptay family knows how to roll - whether you go there to buy something or just sit in for a night of entertainment, you are sure to enjoy the show!

REMEMBER the first lesson when attending an auctions is... GET A BID NUMBER!

Hope to see you there, Logan
