Pre Winter Home Maintenance Check List
I woke at 6 a.m. this morning to the sound of my smoke detector beeping to remind me that it is time for a battery replacement. I realized that it is time to do the twice yearly maintenace check.
- Replace smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries
- Replace furnace filter
- Check expiry dates on fire extinguishers and reload if necessary
- Have a family meeting and review locations and use of fire extinguishers, identify what should be done in an emergency and determine a safe meeting place outside
- Remind everyone that if a fire is out of control, alert everyone to get out and call 911
Take a few minutes to take care of these tasks now and you can relax until Spring!
