This community is nestled between Cambridge Street in the east, Edgeland St adjacent to Tuxedo in the west, the Canadian National Railways main line the south, and the Assiniboine River in the north. To the north of Academy Road is the elegant tree and mansion-lined Wellington Crescent. The area is close to downtown, without the hustle and bustle, close to the city’s best parks, and also easily accessible to the airport to the northwest.

The community of River Heights is managed by the Winnipeg School Division and consists of five schools. There are four elementary schools; Brock Corydon Elementary School (N-6), J.B. Mitchell School (N-6), Montrose Elementary School (N-6), Queenston School (N-6) and one middle school; Ecole River Heights School (7-8). Schools, Parks and Recreation Centres (Central Corydon Community Centre is the collaboration of Sir John Franklin, River Heights, and Crescentwood Community Centres), are easily accessible to young Families involved in all Sports, Hockey, Tennis and Yoga for young and Old. The neighbourhood comes alive in Summer, as residents stroll the streets on foot and bikes. During the summer months, Wellington Crescent closes to vehicle traffic to allow families to travel on rollerblades, and bike or on foot safely.
