Top ranked elementary school in Thornhill and Richmond Hill and how affordable homes are in those school boundaries

Last week we explore the home prices in the boundaries of top ranking elementary schools in Markham, according to Fraser Institute School Report Card. (Click here for last week's post.) The top schools we talked about last week were: #1 St. Justin Martyr Catholic Elementary, #14 Randal, #24 William Berczy, #27 Stonebridge and also at #27 Castlemore Public School. This week let's talk about the top elementary schools in Thornhill and Richmond Hill: # 24 Henderson Avenue, #45 Richmond Rose and #45 Sixteenth Avenue Public School.

#24 Henderson Avenue Public School

Henderson Avenue public school is located in the Grandview community, the school boundaries are the same as the community boundaries: East of Yonge, West of Bayview, North of Steeles and South of the train trail. The Grandview community consists mostly of single family homes, many homes were built between 1960 – 1980. There are a number of multi-million dollars homes in the area as well. There are also one small townhouse complex and a few condo buildings in the community. The condo/retail development, known as the World on Yonge, were built about 2 years ago by Liberty Development. Let’s look at the prices of condo units with 2 or more bedrooms and the single family home prices in the area since the beginning of 2016.

#45 Richmond Rose Public School

The Richmond Rose Public School boundary is roughly located in the Northwestern part of the Rouge Woods Community. The Rouge Woods community is the area North of Major MacKenzie, South of Elgin Mills, between Bayview and Leslie. The area consists of single family homes built between late 1990’s to late 2000’s. 26 transactions was recorded in the area since January 1st, 2016. See below for a summary of the statistics.

#45 Sixteenth Avenue Public School

Located on Sixteenth Avenue right in the middle between Yonge and Bayview, the boundary of Sixteenth Avenue Public School is South of Weldrick, North of the river, between Yonge and Bayview. Homes in the area are mostly single family homes built in 1980 to 2000. There are a wide range of detached homes in the area, from single-car garage homes built in the 1980 to multi-million dollar custom mansions with 3-car garages and acreage lots. 20 homes were sold since January 1st, 2016.
