Canadian households are preparing to cut back on expenses in the face of economic recession but two items which were a luxury only a decade ago -- the Internet and cellphones -- are among the last items Canadians are willing to forgo. For full story see CTV.ca
Here is the top ten list of things that consumers may have to cut back on:
1. Big-ticket events (eg. concerts, sports)
2. Movie-going
3. DVD buying
4. Magazine subscription renewals/newsstand
5. Cable/satellite TV extras
6. Video game buying
7. Home phone
8. Mobile/wireless phone
9. DVD Rentals
10. Home Internet
I read over the list a couple of times and only two of the ten cutbacks did not matter to me (magazine subscriptions and video game buying) the rest are certainly a part of my everyday lifestyle. To be perfectly honest I can't even function without my Blackberry both for business and for my personal life. Life once upon a time sure seemed a lot simpler when all I had was a day-timer, that is for sure! I like many are very curious to see what the months ahead will hold for consumer confidence throughout the world.
