Local rower wins Canada its first medal of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics
Scott Frandsen of Kelowna has brought Olympic glory to our wonderful nation of Canada. The timing of this silver medal placing of Scott Frandsen and David Calder of Victoria couldn't be better. Consider that we are now into day nine of the 2008 Olympics and our Canadian athleteshave had many "almost but not quite" scenarios play out up to this point. It sure feels like there was a collective sigh of relief amongst us all that are glued to our TV's until the wee hours of the morning! There is something special about having an Olympic Games that brings out the national pride in everyone of us as Canadians.
I for one just wanted to say a big "thank you" to all the men, women, coaches and family members that make our nation proud to be a part of the Olympics. A huge congrats to Scott Frandsen as he achieved a dream that very few get to experience!
