Okanagan Fall Wine Festival Complete List of Award Winners
Recently, the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival awards were announced. Both VQA Wineries and non-Vintners Quality Alliance wineries were represented at this years festival and as usual there were no disappointments in the overall selection.
The three day judging for the BC Wine Awards takes place in Kelowna and consists of 12 North American wine judges. The competition is open to all wineries in BC that make wines from 100% BC grown grapes/fruit. Jackson-Triggs Okanagan Estate Winery, CedarCreek Estate Winery, Sandhill, Blasted Church, Road 13 Vineyards and Nk'Mip Cellars were just some of the multiple award winners this year.
Major award winners were:
Best Red Wine: Desert Hills Estate Winery for their Syrah Select 2007
Best White Wine: Mission Hill Family Estate for their Reserve Riesling 2007
Best Dessert Wine: Inniskillin Okanagan for their Dark Horse Vineyard Reserve Riesling 2008
Best New Winery: Cassini Cellars located in Oliver,BC considered the Wine Capital of Canada
