Somebody needs to make a decision on how many units there will be in the McKinley Resort Development

Is it 1,000 units or 3,000 units? That's what Kelowna Council wants to determine before it will approve changes to a major development on the books for the McKinley Landing area.

The proposed $500 million McKinley Resort Development has been in the works for more than five years.

The developer, Kinnikinnik Developments, was looking for an OCP amendment for a portion of the project.

A public hearing on the matter was held last week.

Whenever I read these types of articles I do have to scratch my head and what little hair I have left on top!  I am curious as to how this proposed development got this far in the reading/amendment process with a 2,000 unit discrepancy in the mix.  Councillor Barrie Clark seemed just a tad bit frustrated at his counterparts for allowing this project to get to the point it has already.  McKinley Landing has long been a quiet waterfront community where the residents are used to a pretty laid back lifestyle.  These types of huge questions in terms of how big of a project that McKinley Resort will ultimately be can't instill a sense of confidence for residents by any means.  Likely, the City of Kelowna will be tied up for some time in trying to figure out exactly what they are dealing with and how it will affect the locals.

Sincerely,
