In the heat of a pre-World War I land boom, a large parcel of land that included Rosslyn was annexed to Edmonton. Shortly thereafter, the boom came to an end and Rosslyn lay undeveloped for several decades. After World War II, Edmonton once again experienced considerable growth. A shortage of building lots existed across the city and Rosslyn was subdivided for residential and commercial development in the late 1950s. Most of the remainder of the neighbourhood was developed during the 1960s. Single detached houses account for nearly 70 percent of the total dwelling units in the neighbourhood.
