Let's Tell It Like It Is

I get irritated when I see Realtors make misrepresentations in advertising.  Unfortunately, they appear all too often and the reason is a lack of accountability.  Gone are the days when the broker manager had to approve your ad copy before it saw the light of day.  Today, I read about a great new listing that included among the features "backs on greenbelt".  For many, this would suggest parkland or conservation area.  As you can clearly see from the photo above, what it backs onto is a hydro transmission tower.  Fast forward to my client who wants to back onto a greenbelt and is automatically emailed this listing through MLS as a match to their criteria. 

I'm not here to debate the potential health risks associated with proximity to hydro lines.  It's about credibility.  If Realtors are to improve their public perception as professionals, truth in advertising is a great place to start.
