Top 10 Things I Love About Living In Westvale #8

Another week has flown by and once again, it's Westvale Wednesday.  Today's instalment of the top 10 things I love about living in Westvale is:

#8  Great elementary schools

One of the primary components of a vibrant community is its schools.  Westvale is very fortunate to have 2 great schools within its boundaries:  Westvale Public School and Holy Rosary Catholic School.

Westvale Public School is located at 265 Westvale Drive, Waterloo.  It opened in September 1991and current enrollment is 478 students from junior kindergarten to grade 6.  The "Westvale Way" is the school philosophy.  Students and staff demonstrate the 3 C's - caring, courtesy and co-operation.  The school features an active School Council supported by many wonderful volunteers.  Pictured above is the Walking School Bus.  Kids are encouraged to walk safely in a group to school to promote physical fitness.  French Immersion is offered.  Upon graduating, students attend Centennial Public School for grades 7-8 and then Sir John A. MacDonald Secondary School.   For more information, visit

Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary School is located at 485 Thorndale Drive, Waterloo.  It opened in 1989 and offers junior kingergarten to grade 8.  The philosophy of the school is "Do what you can, with what have, where you are."  It recently received the Dr. Bette M. Stephenson Recognition of Achievement.  This award recognizes the community's dedication to student achievement and use of provincial assessment results to improve student learning.  Upon graduating, students attend Resurrection Catholic Secondary School. To find out more, visit http://holyrosary/

When discussing schools, it's easy to forget about daycare/preschool.  Both schools offer excellent programs for full and half days.

As the snow melts, thoughts turn to spring.  If a Westvale move is in your future, feel free to contact me.  I'll be happy to consult with you whether you're relocating to Waterloo, moving up, moving on or looking for a great place to settle your family.  Call or email 519-505-4488
