As the snow melts and it starts to feel like Spring, the neighbourhood comes alive. You begin to see more people out for a walk enjoying the relatively mild weather. I read a blog post last week about a lady who was struggling to clear her driveway of snow with her husband away and 2 small children to care for. It recounted how her neighbour failed to offer help in spite of clearing his driveway and his neighbours. It reminded me of what we often take for granted. Here then is another of the Top Ten Things I Love About Living in Westvale:
#5 Great Neighbours
Buying a home in a new neighbourhood often comes with some uncertainties. There is perhaps none greater than "how are the neighbours?" Often there are visual clues to what Realtors refer to as "pride of ownership".. This time of the year that likely includes shovelling the sidewalk. One can also gain insight by looking at things like lawns, fences, decks, driveways, landscaping etc. There may even be some visual clues that the neighbours don't get along athough they may not be this obvious:
As I've mentioned previously, Westvale is a wonderful Waterloo neighbourhood. Most residents are fortunate to have great neighbours. For example, I choose to shovel the snow in winter as I need the exercise. Once or twice a year, we get a snowfall that we might struggle with. As I read the blog post referred to above, I started to think about my neighbours. I counted 4 neighbours that wouldn't hesitate to clear our driveway and sidewalk. In fact, we've been away on vacation and had a cleared driveway upon return.
If you have great neighbours, count your blessings and let them know you appreciate them. If you don't, and are considering a move, I can help. Feel free to call or email to get the conversation started 519-505-4488 email@example.com.
