It hasn’t been a good year for the Regina real estate market

An eight per cent decrease in home sales in December capped a down year in the Regina real estate market in 2015, which saw the lowest average prices in three years and the lowest the number of homes sold since 2008,  according to the Association of Regina Realtors.

Overall, the number of sales reported through the the Regina and area  multiple listing service (MLS) in 2015 was down seven per cent from 2014, selling prices were lowered and the number of listings for sale was consistently above historical levels, said the Association of Regina REALTORS® Inc.

Here are a few more interesting numbers: 

  • 3,392

    residential sales in all geographic areas

  • 7%

    down on 2014

  • 957

    listings remain on the system in the city at the end of the year

  • 2%

    up from last year’s 941

  • 26%

    up from 2013

  • 1,499

    listings was the peak for the year in June

  • 5,727

    new listings on the system in the city was a 3% decrease from 2013

  • $318,348

    average sale price in the city for 2015

  • $326,747

    average sale price in the city in 2014

  • $1,055.7M

    total sales dollar volume for 2015

  • 1,145.4M

    total sales dollar volume for 2015
