People want to live a life of integrity, but few actually understand how to actually live that way every day. People want to live a life of integrity, but few actually understand how to actually live that way every day. People want to live a life of integrity, but few actually understand how to actually live that way every day. Its a nebulous concept to most, and something that you might have a good sense of but often violate that sense and feel badly after the fact.
Living with integrity has three aspects:
- Personal integrity
- Integrity in relationships
- Integrity with your environment
Let’s break each of these down.
Personal integrity is where it all must begin. If you do not create personal integrity for yourself, it will be harder to create integrity in relationships and with your environment. Hence – the key to all happiness and success in life, and to effective personal growth and self help, lies here.
Personal integrity is, quite simply, the unity of your mind with your body. This means doing what you intend or say. Uniting your thoughts with your actions. Uniting your words and deeds. Pretty simple to understand – harder to accomplish, of course.
The second aspect is integrity in your relationships. Here is where the results of doing what you say/intend (or not, as the case may be) shows its results. Because, let’s face it, life is a series of relationships – from our family to school, to our work life, our community, service, and so on. There are specific skills we will need to develop in order to translate our intention into our relationships and therefore have personal integrity in those relationship
The third aspect is integrity with your environment. Of course, that would mean with the natural environment, but in Living With Integrity we will focus on integrity with our living environment – specifically, time and money. Integrity in our relationships with time (we all get the same 24 hours per day) and money (how we created it, manage it and invest it greatly affects the integral quality of our lives)
