- Which do you prefer: A Brand New home or A Used home?
One of the great things about buying a brand new home, is that you have your say in how it is designed. Not all builders are willing to compromise on their designs, as I found out during my adventure of new home buying, but some will make changes to their designs to accomodate what you want in a home. Why settle for someone else's choices when you can select your favorite cabinets, countertops, appliances, carpets and flooring? why settle for run of the mill colours and fabrics? While you're at it, you can choose gorgeous bath and kitchen fixtures, lighting and other options that you love. Your new home will reflect your style, not someone else's taste.
As I said above, the really good builders will make changes that are inline with what you want. Want a master bedroom on the first floor? It's yours. With massive his and her's walk-in closets? Done! Want high ceilings and a luxurious, resort-style master bath? Perhaps you'd like a sitting room with a fireplace in your owner's suite or French doors that open to your private patio or the pool? The choices are endless. We opted to add an extra bathroom, because our girls wanted their own bathroom, as well as some extra walls and half walls, as well as removing one wall and making it open. These changes will make our new home ..well..ours! Not a cookie cutter version of everyone elses.
One of the really great things about a new home, is the 7 year Tarrion Warranty. While a used home may have products that may soon need replacing, a new home — and the products that comprise it — are brand-new and under warranty. What's the cost to replace a roof, appliances, countertops or a water heater on a used home? Those components of your new home feature the latest designs and building materials and should offer you years of comfort and enjoyment before needing replacement.
Todays new homes are so much more energy efficient than thos e built as recently as five years ago. And with energy costs rising so fast, this is an added bonus. In a new home, often the windows are double or even triple-paned. New homes will meet stringent energy standards and codes not in place in the past. They combine high-performance energy efficiency with state-of-the-art ventilation and air filtration. The result is year-round, draft-free comfort and higher indoor air quality. Special window coatings and inert gases between the layers of glass are often available, saving you even more energy and money. It is definitely an added bonus.
Another thing people love is the open floor plans and high ceilings that reflect peoples needs today. They're also made of cutting-edge building products that require less care and maintenance. Another plus? The latest building systems and components are designed and engineered to work together.
