Welcome to www.JimDatlen.com! And now, you're...

Welcome to my Website

Thank you for visiting.  I am very pleased to work with Century 21 Millennium Inc. as a full-time broker - and I'm also a REALTOR®.   Not every real estate broker or salesperson is a REALTOR® - just those who demonstrate their professional level by being a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association.

At Century 21 Millennium Inc., we have a great team - ethical, honest, hard-working and full-service.  When I bought my own home back in 1998, I used a Century 21 Millennium Inc. agent.  It was a great experience, and I've been providing more great experiences for my own clients over the last few years.

I take pride in my work, and I watch for the small details that help make the right move for you. I ask lots of questions to fully understand your needs – and I’ll do my best to exceed your expectations. I like to share my experience with my clients, whether it’s pointing out features (good and bad) in homes for sale that Buyers are considering, or advising Seller clients on how to “stage” their home to sell fast for a higher price.

Speaking of Buyers and Sellers, do I specialize in a certain area? Well, having lived in the Bramalea area of Brampton for over 13 years, I’m rather familiar with our city – particularly the M section, J section and H section. And, with my strong research and work ethic, I’m happy to help Buyers and Sellers almost anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area.

Open Houses

Open Houses are a great way to market your property - the more exposure you get, the greater the chance of selling the property quickly for a higher price!  I try to conduct Open Houses on properties I'm selling every weekend - and I love meeting everyone who lives in our community!  See you at the next Open House!

Professional Background & Skills

I've been working as a full-time REALTOR® since 2007 - and I'm proud that I earned top marks when taking the required courses to earn my license to trade in real estate.  Selling is what I do - yet my style is low-key and discreet. Before moving into real estate sales, I worked for many years as a Director of Sales selling hotel meeting room and bedroom space to corporate clients.

My hospitality background has given me a number of skills which I use to create a successful real estate transaction for you.  These skills include:

Negotiation - I work hard on your behalf to get you the best overall deal.  Price is just one factor, I also take into account the terms and conditions that benefit you most.  My people skills come into play very strongly when negotiating, as I firmly believe in a win-win situation - both sides need to feel happy with the sale/purchase.

Market Intelligence - I am always improving my knowledge of the current market dynamics - both locally and economically.   It is important to me to have a full understanding of the neighbourhood surrounding the home you're selling or buying - and I make sure to transfer that knowledge to you so that together, we make the best decision for you and your family.

Customer Service - I make it a point to be available to you - well, maybe not at 3:00am!  Seriously though, I'm proud to list my contact details at the top of this page - including my cell/mobile number.  When I'm selling your property, I ensure that you are kept informed of the activities I'm completing to get your house sold.  And when I'm helping you buy, I make sure to listen carefully to your wants and needs - and I'll keep us on track to find your perfect home.

Community Involvement

Part of Century 21 Millennium's community involvement is time and money spent sponsoring families in need at Christmas and throughout the year.  My contribution is both monetary and time/effort.  Each month, I pay a certain dollar amount towards a sponsored family so that they can have a decent Christmas.  And, at Christmas time, I take the time to help deliver the food and gifts to the school of the family that we've sponsored.  This is all anonymous - the family doesn't know who is sponsoring them.

Professional Associations

  • member of Brampton Real Estate Board, with full access to listings in Toronto, Mississauga, Milton, Georgetown, Caledon, Bolton, Orangeville, Vaughan, and most other GTA areas
  • member of Ontario Real Estate Association
  • member of Canadian Real Estate Association

Professional Volunteerism:

  • 2009-present: Membership Committee, Brampton Real Estate Board
  • 2011-present: Professional Standards Committee, Brampton Real Estate Board

Personal Interests

Like any Canadian guy, I enjoy watching hockey but I admit I only catch the occasional game.  I also like watching the flowers in the garden come up every spring, and I absolutely love cooking - it was my favourite part of my former career in the hotel industry.  I make a mean Caesar salad, and I'm pretty good with home-spun desserts, too!

Personal Background

Well, I live in Brampton and yes, I'm a Newfie!  I was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, but unfortunately don't have any memory of living there as our family moved away to Ottawa when I was 2, then to the Greater Toronto Area when I was 4.  Growing up in North York, I moved to the Bathurst/St Clair neighbourhood when I finished college.  In 1998, my spouse and I bought our house here in Brampton and have loved it ever since!
