It was 55 years ago that Bramalea was developed by one of Canada’s leading developers as the first suburban satellite community.
Separate from the city of Brampton, Bramalea is home to several remarkable, innovative homes, and exclusive community designs.
As a fine example of Canada’s first modern, planned community, Bramalea is 16 miles west of Toronto’s clam-shell City Hall and has quickly become a ‘Boom Town’ with the immigration population growing faster than the Canada-born (non immigrant) population.“Bramalea has always been one of Canada’s most unique communities, and home to many of its original residents,” says Mayor Susan Fennell.
Bramalea was meant to accommodate 50,000 to 90,000 people by integrating houses, shopping centres, parks, green belt trail, government buildings, a library, theatre, fire dispatch centre, post office, commercial business and industry.
Bramalea is home to the Bramalea City Centre. Located west of the Bramalea City Centre is a cluster of high-rise towers mirroring the cluster in the K-Section on the east side. This specific area has some of the tallest buildings in Bramalea. In general though, many of the towers aren’t as tall as those located in the K-Section.Many of the towers in this area are home rentals.
This section has more of a suburban atmosphere compared to the K-Section with four of the towers located on a cul-de-sac.The land surrounding many of the buildings has been developed into outdoor recreation space for the residents with fences and gatehouses surrounding some of the towers.
On the west side of the units, residents have stunning views of Chassels Lake. On the other side of the lake is the 25-storey Norton Lake Residence: a recent tall addition to the Bramalea skyline. Behind 190 Clark Boulevard is a fairly new 22-storey condo tower called Indigo Bay.

The name Bramalea is a combination of Bram – for Brampton, Mal for the neighbouring
Malton, and Lea – which means meadow. A Farmer named William Sheard created the name, who sold land to the developer, and who also built one of the first homes in the
