November 11th marks a special day where members of the armed forces such as soldiers, sailors and airmen are commemorated. As Century 21 Millennium honors the men and woman who died for our country, let us also give respect to our wounded warriors.
The other common name for this day is Armistice Day which marks the date and time when armies stopped fighting World War I on November 11th at 11am in 1918 (the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month). Over 100,000 Canadian soldiers died in the First and Second World Wars.
For those of you who would like to join this year’s Remembrance Day service, mark your calendar for the Parade and Ceremony on November 11th, 2014. The parade starts at 10:30am and the service begins at 11 at the Cenotaph on the front lawn of the Collingwood Museum.
