The Vancouver 2010 Winter Games Torch Relay involved over 12,000 torchbearers and lit up 1.036 communities to connect a "Path of Northern Lights' during its 45,000 kilometer journey across Canada. The Vancouver opening of the Winter Olympics is the first indoor opening ceremony in the history of the Winter Olympics.
The Olympic Torch Relay has become a very integral part of the the celebration of the games.
