Vancouver 2010 Olympic Emblem

There was a lot of controversy when the Olympic Emblem was revealed to the public for the first time.  A lot of people thought that the chosen emblem wasn't a true representation of Canada.  Over time, the controversy subsided as Canadians became accustomed and accepted the Olympic Emblem.  It is a contemporary interpretation of the  Inukshuk.  It is an image that most Canadians now associate with these games.  The word Inukshuk, singular of Inuksuit, means "in the likeness of a human" in the Inuit language.  Inuksuit has come to represent hope and friendship in Canada. The emblem is also present on the Olympic Torch.
