In Saskatchewan, real estate sales were down 2.8 per cent to 1,036 compared to 1,066 in April, 2010. But average sale prices continued to climb by 2.6 per cent to $256,034 in April compared to $249,634 a year ago.
Year to date, Saskatchewan saw a slight decrease in units sold to 3,378 from 3,391 in the first four months of 2010, while dollar volume of sales increased 4.2 per cent. Average prices in the province increased by 4.6 percent to $253,235 from $242,068 in 2010.
As expected, the decline in April sales activity reflects changes to mortgage regulations that have come into effect.
Nationally, the average home price of $372,544 was up 8 per cent from a year earlier.
