Choosing A School For Your Children

It is important to be sure that the neighbourhood that you are considering has schools that suit the needs of your child.  How do you find out if the schools in the area in which you are considering are suitable?  For starters, you could talk to people whose children attend the schools in the neighbourhood where you're considering moving.  The great thing today, is that most school boards and schools now have websites where you can check on programs, courses, extracurricular activities, statistics, staff, field trips etc.  This can greatly help a family decide if a school is large enough, academic enough, athletic enough etc.  You may also be looking for special programs, such as French Immersion, Elite Athletics, or a strong Special Education department for children with learning disabilities.  You may also want a school with a special focus on music or drama or art.  In closing, a good school is the one that meets the needs of your child educationally, emotionally and socially.
