The Toronto city planning department has comenced on the plans for Yonge Street between Finch and Steeles. This is the only stretch of Yonge Street in the city of Toronto that has not yet been developed. There are three separate proppsals that are being discussed and each one of them implements a drastic change for the better to the esthetics of Yonge Street. We will eventualy soon see the Yonge Subway line extended to Steeles with a stop at Cummer. Steeles is where the TTC will place a hub Station with a kiss and ride type deal, so that to aliviate traffic from York region into Toronto. The Subway is proposed to then be extended to highway 7 in Vaughn. All this change happening in the Willowdale community has begged the question from home and property owners as to what will happen to my property in the newly proposed plan.
The plan has yet to be specificaly determined since the city is shuffling between a few choices. However, they are very close to a descision on the matter. The major changes will be in the residential sector, allowing for more Condos and townhomes to be built in the area. The fact that Yonge and Steeles will now be a Yonge line Subway stop, I would imagine a lot of concentration with multiple dwelling units like condos. Also, I would imagine that Centerpoint Mall will undergo a transformation as well.
