Just returned from 2 days of golf with friends at Lake Placid, New York. I would highly recommend it as a quick "get-away." We were blessed with good weather - which can make all of the difference!
There were 10 of us so not even foursomes but it worked out fine. Day One golf we played 4, 4 and 2. Your score on Day One determined your golfing position on Day Two! We all like a challenge! We golfed the Links course day 1 and the Mountain course Day 2. The courses are getting close to 100 years old!
We stayed at the Crown Plaza. They have a package deal on golf, hotel and breakfast. We thought it was reasonable. They also have affiliated restaurants. We were able to walk to the "Veranda" on the first evening and took the hotel free shuttle to "The Boat House" on the second evening. Both restaurants were good and the service was excellent but I think the Veranda was better so if you only have one night - try it! Very nice views from both establishments.
There are other things to do in Lake Placid as well - historic site of the 1930 and 1980 Winter Olympics, hiking, a bit of shopping and the beach!
We had a great time but it is always nice to get back to Carp!
