Brian in Dymond wants to know...

Before looking at a property last week, a Realtor wanted me to sign a "Buyer Agency Agreement" can you tell me what this document is and what it does?

A Buyer Agency Agreement does two seperate things, it clearly defines the role of the Realtor in dealing with you and in dealing with the Seller, it also protects the Realtor's commission in the event that you should buy a property from another Realtor or from a private seller. It will bind you to buying real estate from that agent or you may have to pay two seperate commissions. Before signing agreements that will bind you this way, read the document carefully, and ask the question.. What's in it for me? Should you get an answer which is unsatisfactory to you, proceed with caution.
