City of Charlottetown
Called "The Birthplace of Confederation", Charlottetown is known most famously as the site for the Charlottetown Conference held in 1864 where Canadian politicians, the Fathers of Confederation, debated and established Canadian Confederation. The City of Charlottetown has a city population of just over 32,000. In 2006, The city amalgamated with surrounding towns and villages: Sherwood; Parkdale; Winsloe; West Royalty and East Royalty, bringing Charlottetown's population close to 59,000.
