A Career Highlight
One of the proudest moments in my professional life was the day I met Warren Buffett, one of history's most successful investors. In 2009, Mr. Buffett was ranked the second richest man in the USA with a net worth of $40 billion. When the photo on my HomePage was taken (1999, I believe), I was leading a team of salespeople at GEICO Insurance, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. As the primary shareholder and CEO of that group, Warren Buffett was invited to attend the Grand Opening of our new 297,000 square-foot office building. He was kind enough to stay afterwards to meet with a few of us. A notable philanthropist, having pledged to give away 85% of his fortune to the Gates Foundation, Mr. Buffett has learned that it is more blessed to give than to receive. I believe his success has more to do with this outlook on life than his substantial net worth, and I admire his down-to-earth approach to business and people.
