Last night's concert was amazing. The place was almost packed, but we confirmed when we left that they do have a few tickets available for tonight's 8pm performance.
If you enjoy Big Band music, this is the event for you. Lots of Swing pieces and a few sentimental love songs, too. I couldn't help but feel proud when I heard Matt Catingub, the guest conductor say several times throughout the evening just how difficult this music is to play and how amazing our orchestra is to pick it up and run with it. And because of the nature of this type of music, it wasn't all done in unison. There were numerous solos highlighting the amazing talent of our orchestra and the many beautiful sounds of the instruments represented. We really do have a top-notch group of musicians here in K-W, which I think we need to not take for granted.
Matt Catingub, from Hawaii, was truly amazing. He conducts...plays saxophone...sings...plays piano...makes announcements...tells jokes...this man does it all and doesn't miss a beat. Matt pointed out that it was a shame that we didn't have a dance floor. I have to agree. My nieces are amazing swing dancers and I could picture them cutting loose, especially during some of the upbeat numbers.
Century 21 has an ad campaign out about how Century 21 Realtors are Smarter, Bolder, Faster. I really am bold, but wasn't sure if I wanted to be the only one standing up to dance without a dance floor...yet I woke up this morning feeling regret that I didn't. I mean, you only live once!
Hopefully, you can make it out to the Centre in the Square this evening. You will be impressed. Tickets start at only $19 can be purchased online at KWS Something else to note if you do plan on attending, this event will be well-attended, so plan to arrive early if you want a close parking spot. The Centre in the Square parking lot was full last night, and it takes longer to find a spot on the street.
