Traffic was crazy on the 401 last night. My hubby and I made a trip to and from Oakville and were running really late to the Symphony last night. I just had to close my eyes and trust we'd make it to the Centre in the Square in time.
When we sat down right before the music started, our hearts were pounding, and the first portion of the evening (the piano concerto) kept our hearts beating fast. Nareh Arghamanyan was amazing on the keys...very high energy. After the second standing ovation, she came pack and played the fastest version of "Flight of the Bumblebee" that I've ever heard. Unfortunately, we couldn't see her hands on the keyboard, but again, I just closed my eyes and imagined. Kind of like the 401, only way safer.
The second half of the evening was a bit more low key (no pun intended), but certainly not a let down. The place was full, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony was on just like they always are, and guest conductor, Julian Kuerti was fantastic. Again, another great night at the Symphony.
If you are looking for something to do tonight, go see Kuerti Conducts the Emporer at the 8pm. Tickets starting at only $19 per person and are available online at KWS.
