Right before Canada Post went on vacation...or strike..or lockout...or whatever you want to call it, I received a great magazine in my mailbox called Thriving Family. This well put together piece comes out quarterly, I believe, and is a wealth of information. Published by Focus on the Family, a faith-based but not preachy organization that aims to build families.
There was a particular article that I thought would be helpful for anyone contemplating a move, particularly those who are parents of school-age children. Here is the online version, which also offers a very helpful moving checklist:
I will never forget the rainy day I moved across the country with my parents back in 1983. Fortunately, I had a very nurturing mom and dad that helped me to work through all of the emotions that a big move like that can bring on. In fact, they could have written this article. But, it may not have come naturally to them...it's just that I was their 5th child, so I'm sure they learned a lot about life and parenting along the way...years before we made that move.
If there's anything else I can help with...you know where to find me! (And if you work for Canada Post, please forgive the sarcasm.)
