One of Kitchener's best-attended events every year is Oktoberfest. In fact, it is well-known that Kitchener's Oktoberfest is the largest one outside of Bavaria. Not everyone likes to drink beer, but doesn't everyone love a good parade? If you're looking for something to do on Thanksgiving morning, check this out...Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade.
If you're putting a bird in the oven before the parade starts, you are a bundle of energy! To get a good local turkey, pre-order RIGHT AWAY from Dutchie's Market 519.883.0550. You can also pick up your fresh sweet potatoes, squash or other produce to serve with your turkey or a pumpkin to bake a fresh pie. (Who am I kidding? The pies from Dutchies are baked by local Mennonites and I could never compete with their baking, so I'd rather just buy one and make fresh whipped cream and a great French roast coffee to serve with it).
Whatever you do for the holiday, remember that the season isn't really about the festivities or the food. It's about remembering to be thankful for what we have...freedoms, family and friends. We are blessed.
