St. Jacobs Real Estate Listings and Information
St. Jacobs country is a rural community that is known for attracting quite a bit of tourism within the Waterloo Region. The Farmer’s Market is its biggest appeal, being Canada’s largest year-round farmer’s marketplace. It is open twice a week, Thursday and Saturday, no matter what the weather is, and also Tuesdays in the summer time. There you can find a large variety of local produce, meats, baked goods, cheeses, and so much more.
Five minutes from the Market is the main strip and village. This town can almost be looked at as a miniature version of Niagara-On-The-Lake, with its quaint shops and small town feel. Many of the shops specialize in its original arts and crafts as well as clothing boutiques.
St. Jacobs has two small theatres of its own, St. Jacobs Country Playhouse and Schoolhouse Theatre which are both part of Drayton Entertainment (a non-profit, charitable theatre company). At these theatres they have put on popular performances such as Hairspray, The Wizard of Oz, and Guys and Dolls.
There is also the Waterloo Central Railway that can take
passengers from Waterloo to St. Jacobs, then back to Waterloo.
Popular restaurants in this community would be Stone Crock Restaurant, Benjamin’s Restaurant and Inn, and Jacob’s Grill.
