Hey Kids!
Is your family moving or buying a new house? If they are, then that means big changes are coming your way! The thought of such a big change might seem kind of scary at first, but let me tell you, if you think of it more as a fun adventure, it will be.
Believe me, I totally understand what you're going through because I've been there myself. I moved all the way across the country with my parents when I was a kid. In fact, it was a 16-hour drive to get there. We took some of our personal things in the car with us, but most of our stuff was sent separately in a big truck with the movers and we got to our new house before our stuff made it there.
I'll never forget the day we moved. Hardly anything was open because it was Thanksgiving Day. While most people were in a warm house enjoying a turkey dinner, we were driving around in the rain looking for an open restaurant on a holiday. And you'll never believe what we found. Chuck E. Cheese. So, in 1983, I ate pizza for Thanksgiving dinner. Pizza and a few games of skee-ball on Thanksgiving? If that isn't an adventure, I don't know what is!
A few days later, while I was unpacking boxes and putting all of my old familiar stuffed animals into their brand new space, I realized that I may miss my old house, my old friends, my old school and my old neighbourhood, but I was slowly making my new house a home. Really, home isn't just a place that we live, it's the feeling we get when we live there. Because I've lived in so many different places over the years, I love to make people feel comfortable wherever they happen to be. So, I hope you and your family feel right at home no matter where are are.

HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP:
SELLING? Make your bed every morning, put your clothes and toys away every night before you go to bed, clean up after yourself in the kitchen and bathroom, and keep your dresser and desk clear from clutter so your room looks spacious (clutter makes it look smaller than it really is). When it's time to start packing, pitch in and do your part. This is a good time to give toys and clothes you have outgrown to your younger friends and family members or to kids who are less fortunate.
BUYING? Realize that every house is different, so you can't expect your new house to be exactly like the old one. Your room might be a little bigger or it could be a little smaller - it may even be on a different floor than what you're used to. But, remember what I said; once you start putting your things away, you can make your new space your own and pretty soon it will start feeling like home to you.
