According to the Toronto Region Board of Trade’s 2014 Scorecard on Prosperity, Calgary ranked in as the 2nd most prosperous city in the world. Calgary ranked behind only Paris, France in terms of prosperity.
Calgary’s robust income, coupled with a very strong employment grate and growth are the main factors behind the top two ranking. Other major reasons for Calgary’s strong ranking are our relatively low housing affordability, a growing young labor force and moderately low commute times.
The other Canadian cities that made the list are Toronto, ranked at 3rd place, Vancouver and Montreal at 11 & 12, and Halifax ranking in as the world’s 16th most prosperous city.
