What we surround ourselves with significantly affects our mood & outlook on life.
Here are four simple things that you can do in your home to brighten your days:
1) Plants: Houseplants draw carbon dioxide from the air & filter out toxins which help improve mental health. Caring for living things also makes us more optimistic, calmer, & provides a feeling of fulfillment.
2) Sentimental objects: Having pictures or souvenirs from different trips or events make us happier as they remind us of the memories. Sentimental objects from others also helps to reinforce a feeling of belongingness.
3) Fresh bed: It may be an annoying daily chore but nothing beats the feeling of crawling into a nicely made bed after a long day. Having a freshly made bed also helps productivity & motivation to conquer the day ahead, allowing you to start the day off on the right side of the bed!
4) Zen space: Having a space in your home where you can escape from the hustle bustle of daily life to relax & clear your mind is great as it encourages some down time.
