DIY Pallet Shelf

I am pretty frugal when it comes to renovating and decorating so I am always looking for ways to cut costs, which usually resorts to me repurposing items I've found in back alleys, or refinishing items I've bought second hand. I've even gone as far as making my own concrete countertops for my kitchen. Here are a few photos of one of the many DIY projects I've done over the past couple years. Hopefully it will inspire you to unleash your inner do-it-yourselfer. There is nothing more satisfying than making something yourself, then having someone ask where you bought it or how they can make one for themselves.

Shipping Pallet Shelfs

I found a bunch of old pallets that were being thrown out behind a shipping company's building so I took a few home to play around with. I nailed a few pieces of wooden lathe I found in my garage to the underside of the pallet to create some shelves, then secured it to the wall by drilling 3 inch anchor bolts in to a wall stud. I had all the nails, screws and extra wood already so this project didn't cost me anything.

I also made some smaller ones for my bedroom by cutting a pallet in half.

I'll post some more pictures of other projects next week, but in the meantime I'd love to hear about your DIY projects. Send some photos and details of what you have made yourself to my e-mail and I'll feature them on my blog!
