More often than not when I start the search for a home with a new client, we have a very standard conversation and it goes something like this:
Me: “What would the ideal home look like for you?”
Client: “That’s a tough question and I'm not sure where to start.”
Me: “No worries, how many bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage would you want?”
Client answers with those specifications and then gets on a roll of a few more things that they would like, such as yard space and garages.
Me: “Okay, great, that’s a really good starting point for us. To be honest, once we start looking at houses, you and I will both get a better feel for what your tastes are like and what you’re really looking for in a home. You might not know exactly what you want, but I bet you know what you don’t want and when we walk into a house that has features you absolutely abhor, you’ll tell me and I’ll make sure to take note so that we scratch those off the list of potentials, sound good?”
Client: “Yes, perfect!”
This might not be the case for you, in fact, you might know exactly what you want, and that's fantastic for both of us, but I always keep in mind that what you want might also change as we explore different homes, different floor plans and different colour schemes and styles of architecture.
My job is to make sure I pay attention to the details and features you like and to try and find those all in one beautiful package that you can happily call home. That’s my goal! Your goal is to help me by being vocal and having open communication with me about what you do and do not like in a home.
If you want someone in your corner and on your team who is looking for the perfect house for you and willing to go the extra mile, I am always here and happy to help!
