Winnipeg’s rental shortage continues to be a problem. Currently Winnipeg’s rental vacancy rate is at an all time low sitting at .8% which is a contributing factor in making Winnipeg’s housing less affordable. Housing affordability is definitely becoming more difficult for first time buyers. From 2009 to 2010, entry level homes selling for under $200,000 have declined by 35%. ...

November continues to be strong for MLS results in Winnipeg! Unit sales were down slightly, less than 1% while dollar volume rose 10% in comparison to November 2009. Year to date unit sales are almost the same as last year, up 0.17% while dollar volume year to date rose 10% in comparison to the same time frame for 2009.

Dollar volume is the highest on record for the month of October 2010.
While Winnipeg sales have risen in the last 10 years the primary reason for the significant jump in dollar volume is price increases.
