Saturday June 13th was a busy day in the City of Saskatoon and just one of the events was the annual pride parade in Saskatoon. Organizer, Anthony Santoro, states that it was the largest pride parade yet. He works with the Saskatoon Diversity Network to create the annual event.
The parade was the largest and most attended events during the week long pride festivities. The week long event is not just about the party though, there are also community groups including the Saskatoon Police Service and the public library who host booths and church groups joining the parade to show support.
Unfortunately, it seems that support from outside of the gay community is still lacking and organizers hope to see more attendance by the average citizen outside of Saskatoon's gay community.
Saskatoon is a wecloming city to all religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, etc. and it is important to show that we are a tolerant and caring community, so hopefully more people will continue to show their support in the years to come.
