WESTERN STUDENTS PART OF TEAM TURNING SCHOOL BUS INTO TECH LAB

     Graduaate students at Western University, working with the city's hacker community, hope to outfit a school bus with low-end Lego, craft suppllies, sa well as lasers, a 3D printer and computers for writing video games and creating animation.

The group behind the project is raising money to buy a used school bus.  They'll drive it to the Digital Humanities Conference in Nebraska in July, getting advice on creating a mobile maker space.  The believe 2 buses exist in the U.S.

The bus will be outfitted with everything from 3D printers, Kinect motion-sensing devices and programs for creating video games as well as tools, wood, fabric, a wesing machine, cameras. Lego and craft suppies.

The group hopes by January 2014 the bus will be visiting schools - a field trip that comes to the school.

Organizers hope to raise $10,000. in the next 2 months - before the trip to Nebraska - to buy the bus.  Part of the money will go for the purchase and th rest to outfitting it with technology.
