One of the greatest features of Charleswood is its proximity to one of the most splendid parks in Winnipeg....dare say Canada. Across from the largest urban forest in North America and its bounty of nature trails, Assiniboine park offers the Zoo with its new journey to Churchill exhibit (lunch with Polar Bears anyone?). Across from the Zoo is the Leo Mol Garden with its beautiful bronze statues of one of Canada’s greatest sculptors. These gardens have entertained with free jazz shows through the summer months. Next door to Leo is the traditional English Garden or the Duck Pond for the kids, featuring ice skating come wintertime. Continue on to the Pavilion Gallery and you can see the originals paintings for Winnie the Pooh and other re-known local artists. And do not forget the wide open green space, especially that in front of the Lyric theatre and its countless free presentations of ballet, movies and big name musical acts. Assiniboine Park is a gem of the city of Winnipeg and a joy to have as part of Charleswood.
