The Meaning of Home…

Each of us has memories of where we grew up, where we are growing up and what we want to live in when we do grow up.

Each of us has a special thought as to what “Home” means to us.

Genworth Canada is hosting a National Writing Contest for Grades 4, 5, & 6 called The Meaning of Home.

The competition started in 2006 and to date has raised almost $570,000 for Habitat for Humanity.

Genworth is one of Canada’s mortgage insurance lenders and with each submission they receive for the contest they will donate $5 to Habitat for Humanity Canada.  The winner of the competition will be able to direct a $60,000 grant to the Habitat build of their choice, as well as host a pizza party for their entire school. Runners-up get a pizza party for their classroom, in addition to other great prizes.

Genworth is asking for submissions in the form of an essay, a poem and videos from kids in Grades 4, 5, & 6 expressing what home means to them.

The Meaning of Home contest is being held October 1 to November 9, 2013.

There is no official competition between the provinces, but it would be nice to beat Alberta with more entries than them.
