Tips For a Successful Showing

We've all heard the saying "you only get one chance at a first impression" and this couldn't be more true then in the world of real estate. While preparing your home for sale and have professional photos taken are key to getting people in the door,  equally important is how your home presents itself when people walk in the door for the first time. The smallest thing can make or break a potential sale.

The following tips are provided to help you make the most of marketing your home and setting yourself up for a successful showing:

  • Keep all lights on.
  • Place vanilla scented oil plug-ins throughout the home (but don't over do it).
  • Keep all blinds and window treatments open (people love natural light).
  • Leave during a showing so the potential buyers can experience “their” home.
  • Kitchen and baths must be spotless at all times.
  • Keep any carpets in the home freshly vaccumed & any hard surface flooring swept and clean.
  • Home needs to show like a model home during showings (slide “stuff” under beds if necessary).
  • Keep lawn mowed and hedges trimmed
  • Keep walkways and driveways cleared of snow
  • Plant seasonal flowers.
  • Keep front door area clean and welcoming.
  • Keep your home free of clutter at all times
  • Store any children's toys
  • Set out marketing materials provided by your realtor. People may like to take them home.

If you are thinking about selling your home and have questions about how to best go about setting yourself up for success, please do not hesitate to reach out as I'd be happy to help!
