Development news... Town Council approves Mud Lake Business Park

Town Council approves Mud Lake Business Park - Opportunities abound for the industrial development in Rocky.  Reads the headline in the Tuesday, September 24, 2013 edition of the Mountaineer (www.rock-e.ca).  The article written by Laura Kluz Staff Reporter continues to read as follows:

"The Town's industrial land supply has been increased by 18 lots, as town council approved the development of property surrounding Mud Lake on Sept 17.  Owned by HASCO Development Corp., the first phase of the development will bring in 12 industrial lots to Rocky Mountain House, all exceeding 1.25 acres in size, according to the Mud Lake Business Park outline plan.  Adil Hasan, vice-president of operations at HASCO Development Corp., said parcels should be for sale fairly soon and the intent is for construction to begin on lots as early as next spring.  Residents had the opportunity to view the outline plan on Sept 5. when HASCO Development Corp. held an open house in town.  Justin Mah, planner with Invistec Consulting Ltd. said more than 20 residents attended the event, including a representative from the oil and gas sector.  Brad Dollevoet, director of Planning and Community Development, said there have been no written or verbal comments regarding the development of the park.  According to the outline plan, all 18 lots are between 1.25 acres and 2.5 acres in size.  Hasan said he has seen the most demand for 1.5 acre parcels.  In his report to council, Dollevoet said the park will encourage and attract a broad range of industrial development in Rocky.  "It indicates a desire to encourage a diverse local economy through attraction of a variety of industrial developments," he stated.  Mah told town councilors on Sept. 17 that the company will be proceeding with detailed engineering work, as well as entering into a development agreement with the Town.  The Edmonton-based company also owns Falcon Ridge, a large amount of property located northeast of Mud Lake that offers highway commercial parcels, more general and light industrial lots, as well as half-acre residential parcels.  Hasan said that once Mud Lake Buisness Park project is completed, he is optimistic development will proceed at Falcon Ridge.  Mud Lake is located just outside of the town's industrial sector, near 45 avenue."
