Construction on upper main street is under way and as an employee of a local business who was impacted by the upgrades to lower main street during the 2014 construction season I can emphasize with business owners and local consumers. It feels as if we finally just got some kind of normalcy restored into our daily work environment - to only be impacted by further construction.
During the construction phase of upper main street I know that it will be inconvenient or even impossible to find parking at times, the equipment will bring noise and destruction that will be quite unbearable at times.
We all have to keep in mind that there is light at the end of the tunnel...
Everyday I come into work and I truly appreciate the work that has been completed thus far. I know that there is quite a lot of debate around the design of the new main street but personally I feel that anything is better than what we had. I feel the construction has given many of the local business owners a nudge to give their store fronts a much needed facelift and has revitalized the look and feel of the down town core. The Music Shop made the most of the noise last year by playing tunes for the construction workers to enjoy even though we were in the midst of chaos at times this simple gesture brought music to my ears.
I feel as a resident of Rocky Mountain House and as a Business Woman that it is extremely important for the community to take the extra effort to support local businesses that are most impacted by the construction.
There are numerous specialty shops, coffee spots, beauty boutiques, apparel outlets and much more that can be found. Many of the businesses have rear entrances & have made accommodations for their customers to access from the alleyway - I challenge you to take the time to explore main street!
