In today’s blog we return to our discussion of things to do in and around Markham. From now until January 11, 2015, the Varley Art Gallery of Markham will be holding “The Varley Story.” At the heart of the event is Frederick Horsman Varley (1881-1969), who is often hailed as the founder of the famous Group of Seven artists. The Varley Story tells the captivating and colourful life story of Varley and provides an account of his artistic practices through tours, publications and exhibits. Guided tours will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm.
The Varley Art Gallery of Markham is located in the heart of beautiful, historic Unionville at 216 Main Street Unionville. It is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm, Thursday from 11am to 8pm and Saturday from 10am to 5pm; it is closed Monday.
