Help fight childhood obesity by taking part in the fun at the YMCA Strong Kids Megathon on Saturday, March 2. This is a fundraising event to help raise money for low-income youth in our community to develop a healthy and active lifestyle.
There are a variety of events that is sure to please all tastes! Test your strength and stability in Sunrise Yoga (ages 16+), which runs from 8am to 11am. Or, if you prefer something with more energy, the dance-inspired Zumba Party (all ages) may be more suited to your tastes; this event runs from 1pm to 3pm. There is also a Spin-a-Thon (ages 13+), an hour-long intense spinning class that runs from 10am to 3pm. The Swim the Great Lakes event (ages 6+), running from 10am to 2pm, will allow you to attempt to swim the length of Lake Ontario. The Ball Hockey Tournament (ages 16+) will allow you to test your skills and coordination with a number of prizes to be won. To keep you fueled for your activities, vendors will offer a variety of healthy snacks at the Health Fair from 9am to 5pm.
All individual events are free; however, as this is a fundraiser, a minimum $20 donation is required for participation. The Megathon will be held at the Rudy Bratty Centre, located at 101 YMCA Boulevard, near Highway 407 and Kennedy. This is a popular event for families. Call 416-928-9622 to register today!
